There was no surprise in Mar del Plata where 8th ranked Instituto C. (12-15) was crushed by fourth ranked Penarol (14-10) 89-66 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Penarol. Instituto C. was better in fourth quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Penarol forced 20 Instituto C. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was international swingman Nicolas Brussino (200-93) who scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American Anthony Young (200-89, college: Ky Wesleyan) chipped in 17 points. Penarol's coach Sergio Hernandez felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Federico Mansilla (191-87) produced 19 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American forward Jazwin Cowan (203-83, college: Hampton, agency: DTMones) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Penarol maintains fourth place with 14-10 record. Newly promoted Instituto C. keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. Penarol will face La Union (#5) in Formosa in the next round. Instituto C. will play on the road against Quilmes MP in Mar del Plata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
