Regular Season Round 8: Cocodrilos - Bucaneros 68-74

Very significant was Bucaneros' (#2) 74-68 road victory against one of their biggest challengers Cocodrilos. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 16-11. But Cocodrilos won second period 15-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cocodrilos were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by the former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) who scored that evening 15 points and 8 rebounds and the former international power forward Hector Romero (202-80, college: New Orleans) supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Bucaneros players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington) did not help to save the game for Cocodrilos. Nelson Palacios (196-92) added 15 points for the hosts. Cocodrilos' coach Nestor Salazar rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bucaneros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 6-2 record having just one point less than leader Marinos. Cocodrilos at the other side dropped to the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Guaros. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
