Regular Season Round 12: Charleville - Souffel 74-77

Date: January 12, 2016
A very interesting game took place in Charleville. It ended with only three-point home defeat of higher ranked Charleville-Mezieres (5-7) to fourteenth ranked Souffelweyersheim (5-6) 77-74 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Charleville-Mezieres. The game without a history. Souffelweyersheim led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was American forward Jarryd Cole (205-88, college: Iowa) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Naturalized Mali power forward Nianta Diarra (205-93) chipped in 13 points. Four Souffelweyersheim players scored in double figures. Souffelweyersheim's coach Stephane Eberlin allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American-British point guard Akeem Williams (178-91, college: Mass.-Lowell, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who recorded 21 points and 8 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and naturalized Central African power forward Maxime Zianveni (198-79) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Souffelweyersheim moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Vichy Clermont. Charleville-Mezieres at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Souffelweyersheim's next round opponent will be higher ranked Le Portel (#4) at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Charleville-Mezieres will play against Boulazac Basket (#6) and hope to win that game.
