Regular Season Round 13: Sozh-GGU - Victoria 70-66

Very expected game in Gomel where 8th ranked Victoria (3-12) was defeated by fourth ranked Sozh-GGU (8-6) 70-66 on Wednesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Victoria trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 20-11 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 66-70 at the end of the game. Sozh-GGU shot 26 for 36 from the free-throw line, while Victoria only scored ten points from the stripe. Sozh-GGU forced 23 Victoria turnovers. Katsiaryna Nialepka (178-93) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Forward Natalia Rusak (180-84) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Four Sozh-GGU players scored in double figures. Power forward Mariya Vasilevko (183-99) produced 23 points and 6 rebounds and guard Palina Zielinskaya (173-98) added 10 points and 14 rebounds respectively for lost side. Victoria's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sozh-GGU maintains fourth place with 8-6 record. Victoria lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Sozh-GGU will meet RGUOR (#5) in the next round. Victoria will have a break next round.
