Regular Season Round 19: Samen - Petrochimi 66-92

Superleague top team - Petrochimi (15-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Samen (7-12) in Mash'had 92-66. The game without a history. Petrochimi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Petrochimi brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international Arman Zangeneh (202-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Dominican-American point guard Edgar Sosa (190-88, college: Louisville, agency: Duran International) helped adding 17 points and 8 assists. Five Petrochimi players scored in double figures. At the losing side Lithuanian power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) responded with 25 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Erfan Nasajpour (177-84) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Petrochimi maintains first place with 15-4 record. Samen at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Petrochimi will play against Chemidor (#4) in Tehran in the next round. Samen will play at home against the league's second-placed Naft Abadan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
