Regular Season Round 13: Nantes - Vichy Clermont 69-49

There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Nantes (6-7) outscored at home 10th ranked JA Vichy (5-7) 69-49 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-49. Nantes dominated on the defensive end, holding JA Vichy to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 22 JA Vichy turnovers. Swingman Valentin Bigote (196-92, agency: Comsport) stepped up and scored 13 points and 6 assists for the winners and naturalized DR Congolese point guard Henry Kahudi (194-91) chipped in 12 points. Four Nantes players scored in double figures. Nantes' coach Franck Collineau allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American swingman Jason Williams (198-83, college: UTEP, agency: HMS) responded with 20 points and the other American import point guard Dustin Ware (183-90, college: Georgia) scored 13 points. Nantes moved-up to tenth place. Newly promoted JA Vichy dropped to the eleventh position with seven games lost. Nantes will face higher ranked Boulazac Basket (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JA Vichy will play against Poitiers (#5) and hope to win that game.
