Regular Season Round 12: Belfast Star - UL Eagles 100-112

An interesting game where UL Eagles (#7) won against host Belfast Star (#4) 112-100 on Saturday evening. UL Eagles shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 56.7 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Staats Battle (198-93, college: N.Carolina St.) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 rebounds and Eoin Quigley who added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five UL Eagles players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Shawn Vanzant (185-88, college: Butler) with 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists and international forward Keelan Cairns (208, college: Pennsylvania) scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. UL Eagles maintains seventh position with 5-7 record. Loser Belfast Star dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with UCD Marian. UL Eagles will meet at home league's second-placed UCC Demons in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Belfast Star will play against Killester in Dublin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
