Regular Season Round 16: Stal Ostrow - Start Lublin 85-79

Very expected game when 16th ranked MKS Start (3-13) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Stal Ostrow Wlkp. (8-8) 85-79 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-79. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to MKS Start's 22 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded MKS Start 36-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. American guard Curtis Millage (188-81, college: Arizona St.) fired 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Point guard Tomasz Ochonko (183-86) chipped in 22 points. Five Stal Ostrow Wlkp. players scored in double figures. Swingman Grzegorz Malecki (195-84, agency: Promotex) produced 24 points and Bosnian-Serbian guard Marko Popovic (193-84) added 21 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. moved-up to eighth place. MKS Start lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 13 games lost. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. will face higher ranked Anwil (#3) in Wloclawek in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. MKS Start will play at home against PGE Turow (#12) and hope to win that game.
