No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Plenilunio (9-5) beat 14th ranked Barcelona (1-13) in Madrid 77-70 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-70. Plenilunio outrebounded Barcelona 44-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. Barcelona was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Laura Velasco (172-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Center Daira Varas (193-89) contributed with 9 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Plenilunio's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Claudia Baraut (185-94) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and forward Ana Alonso (187-90) added 20 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Barcelona. Plenilunio have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with UCAM Jairis. Barcelona lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost.
