Regular Season Round 14: Andorra II - Igualada 74-60

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Andorra II (5-9) beat at home higher ranked Igualada (7-7) 74-60 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-60. Andorra II outrebounded Igualada 44-27 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Wally Niang (206-96) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds. Center Cinto Gabriel (199-87) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Andorra II players scored in double figures. Center Eduard Tejero (195-92) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Jordi Torres (188-83) added 6 points and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Andorra II moved-up to seventh place in Group C-B, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Igualada keeps the third position with seven games lost. Andorra II will face Castelldefels (#7) on the road in the next round. Igualada will play against Martorell (#10) and hope to win that game.
