There was a small surprise in Firenze where twelfth ranked Fiorentina (6-11) won against 10th ranked Volpino (7-10) 86-77 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was forward Tommaso Bianchi (190-93) who scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Ivorian guard Mohamed Toure (190-92, agency: Players Group) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Fiorentina players scored in double figures. Power forward Michele Squeo (206-89) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds and the former international swingman Andrea Pilotti (196-80, agency: Players Group) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Volpino's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Fiorentina maintains twelfth place with 6-11 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Volpino dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Fiorentina will face higher ranked Lecco (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
