Regular Season Round 14: La Roda - Real Madrid II 57-62

Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Real Madrid II (5-6) won against on the road 14th ranked La Roda (2-9) 62-57 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-10. But La Roda won third quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded La Roda 42-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Brazilian center Felipe Dos Anjos (218-98) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Daniel De La Rua (181-97) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Real Madrid II's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Stephon Carter (193-91, college: CSU Bakersfield) produced 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals and Senegalese power forward Michel Diouf (208-90) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Real Madrid II moved-up to seventh place in Group B, which they share with Torrelodones. La Roda lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Real Madrid II will face league's second-placed Alcazar at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. La Roda will play against Alcobendas (#10) and hope to win that game.
