Regular Season Round 14: Myrtia - Valencia II 66-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Valencia-2's (9-4) road victory over one of their biggest challengers Myrtia (7-5) 71-66 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Valencia-2 forced 20 Myrtia turnovers. Strangely Myrtia outrebounded Valencia-2 40-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. Myrtia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward David Guardia (200-90) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Adria Duch (185-95) chipped in 12 points and 4 steals. Power forward Jose Fernandez (200-78) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and American power forward Nkosi Ali (213-92, college: Queens, NC) added 15 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Four Myrtia players scored in double figures. Myrtia's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Valencia-2 have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group E with 9-4 record having six points less than leader L'Hospitalet. Newly promoted Myrtia keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Valencia-2 will face L`Alfas (#5) in Alfas Del Pi in the next round. Myrtia will play at home against Paterna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
