Regular Season Round 14: Real Canoe - Azuqueca 80-70

There was a minor upset in Madrid where one of their biggest challengers Azuqueca (7-4) was defeated by sixth ranked Real Canoe (7-4) 80-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Real Canoe. Azuqueca was better in fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was forward Ignacio Fort (200-83) who had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (on 16-of-21 shooting from the field). Power forward Daniel Yusta (201-86) chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Carlos Calvo (178-94, agency: Duran International) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Faronte Drakeford (201, college: Cent.Conn.St.) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Real Canoe have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Tenerife Naut. and Azuqueca. Real Canoe will face Gran Canaria (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Azuqueca will play against the league's leader Quintanar (#1) and hope to win that game.
