The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Gravelines-Dunkerque defeated 4th placed ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket at home 79-63. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Gravelines-Dunkerque. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket managed to win third quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gravelines-Dunkerque made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Andrew Albicy (178-90) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 assists. American Marcus Dove (206-85, college: Oklahoma St.) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. American center Darryl Watkins (211-84, college: Syracuse, agency: Inception Sports) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and international Charles Kahudi (199-86, agency: Beo Basket) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Five Gravelines-Dunkerque and four ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Monaco. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket at the other side dropped to the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Le Mans. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play next round against Strasbourg IG trying to get back on the winning streak. Gravelines-Dunkerque will try to continue on its current victory against thirteenth ranked Chalons-Reims on the road.
