There was no surprise when 16th ranked Moncalieri (2-15) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Varese Coels. (7-10) 74-67 on Saturday. Moncalieri was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Marco Santambrogio (188-88) who scored 12 points, 9 assists and 4 steals. Swingman Luca Matteucci (200-85) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Leone Gioria (194-84) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international power forward Francesco Conti (205-83) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests.
