Regular Season Round 12: Avenir - Montbrison 65-53

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Montbrison (4-7) and Avenir (4-8), which took place in Chartres. 7th ranked Montbrison lost to tenth ranked Avenir in a road game 53-65. The game was mostly controlled by Avenir. Montbrison was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Avenir forced 19 Montbrison turnovers and outrebounded them 40-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Slovakian forward Simona Podesvova (186-83) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 18 rebounds and guard Swanne Gauthier (171-86) who added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Avenir's coach Benoit Marty allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was forward Lucie Carlier (187-90) with 21 points and 5 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and Emily Prugnieres (-97) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Avenir maintains tenth position with 4-8 record. Newly promoted Montbrison dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. Avenir will play against higher ranked Dunkerque (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Montbrison will play against Reims and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
