Regular Season Round 16: Campus Promete - Girona 69-92

There was no surprise in Logrono where 12th ranked Campus Promete (5-11) was crushed by fourth ranked Argon Uni Girona (11-5) 92-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Argon Uni Girona. Campus Promete managed to win second period 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Argon Uni Girona made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Argon Uni Girona outrebounded Campus Promete 33-21 including a 23-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American-FYR Macedonian Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 5 rebounds and Mali-French center Naignouma Coulibaly (191-89, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who added 19 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Argon Uni Girona players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Paula Estebas (175-93) responded with 10 points and 7 assists and American forward Arhonda Covington (185-85, college: Louisville) scored 11 points. Campus Promete's coach Andreu Bou gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Mann Filter. Loser Campus Promete keeps the twelfth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Gran Canaria. Argon Uni Girona will meet at home Zamarat (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Campus Promete will play against the league's second-placed Conquero in Huelva and hope to secure a win.
