Regular Season Round 32: Saitama Bron. - Gunma 79-84

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Saitama Broncos (3-23) were defeated at home by seventh ranked Gunma (14-14) 84-79 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 15 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-79. Gunma looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Mike St.John (203-84, college: La Salle, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Thomas Kennedy (201-87, college: Detroit Mercy) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. St.John is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. Guard Janya Masumoto (183-88) produced a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Mitsuhiro Kamezaki (189-86) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. Gunma moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Yokohama BC. Saitama Broncos lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 23 games lost. Gunma will face league's second-placed Toyama Grouses at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Saitama Broncos will play against Yokohama BC (#6) and hope to win that game.
