Regular Season Round 3: Villa Clara - Santiago 49-92

Another exciting game was between Santiago and Villa Clara where Santiago (1-2) crushed Villa Clara (0-3) on the road with 43-point difference 92-49. Santiago dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Villa Clara's 36. Santiago forced 24 Villa Clara turnovers and outrebounded them 35-23 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for power forward Yuliannes Leyva (185-95) who led her team to a victory with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Suanly Tanis (178-94) contributed with 17 points and 5 steals for the winners. Santiago's coach Abelis Robert felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. International forward Francy Ochoa (185-90) answered with 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and center Lesdaine Valle (181-92) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Villa Clara. Santiago will play against Pinar del Rio (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Villa Clara will play against Capitalinas and hopes to get finally their first victory.
