Regular Season Round 16: Maccabi Ashdod - Maccabi T-A 96-86

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Maccabi T-A (11-5) against seventh ranked Maccabi Ashdod (8-8) on Sunday night. Visiting Maccabi T-A was defeated by Maccabi Ashdod in Ashdod 96-86. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Maccabi T-A was better in second period 28-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ashdod forced 20 Maccabi T-A turnovers. Maccabi T-A was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American power forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) who scored that evening 21 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) supported him with 18 points and 4 assists. Even 14 points and 4 assists by international Guy Pnini (200-83) did not help to save the game for Maccabi T-A. American-Montenegrin point guard Taylor Rochestie (185-85, college: Washington St.) added 12 points and 6 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi Ashdod maintains seventh position with 8-8 record. Maccabi T-A at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#9) on the road in the next round. Maccabi T-A will play against Ironi Nes-Ziona (#10) in Nes Ziyona and hopes to get back on the winning track.
