No shocking result in a game when third ranked Al Rayyan (11-1) beat 5th ranked Al Wakrah (5-7) in Doha 95-84 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 11 points. Al Rayyan looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Dominic James (180-86, college: Marquette) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the effort and the other American import center Kwame Alexander (201-90, college: CS San Bernar.) supported him with 16 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists. Even 28 points and 7 rebounds by American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman, agency: Court Side) did not help to save the game for Al Wakrah. The former international point guard Boney Watson (183-78, college: Sam Houston St.) added 18 points and 10 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Rayyan have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Sadd and Al Gharafa. Loser Al Wakrah keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. Al Rayyan's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharafa.
