There was no surprise in Mont de Marsan where 8th ranked Mondeville (5-7) was defeated by fifth ranked Basket Landes (8-4) 71-67. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But Mondeville won third quarter 21-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian forward Gunta Basko-Melnbarde (181-80, college: Siena, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording 16 points. Croatian center Iva Sliskovic (190-84, college: S.Carolina) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Basket Landes players scored in double figures. Canadian forward Michelle Plouffe (193-92, college: Utah) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and international point guard Marine Johannes (174-95, agency: Comsport) added 19 points in the effort for Mondeville. Basket Landes maintains fifth place with 8-4 record, which they share with Charleville-Mez. Mondeville at the other side keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Hainaut. Basket Landes will play against Charleville-Mez. (#6) at home in the next round. Mondeville will play against Toulouse and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
