Regular Season Round 16: FIATC Joventut - Laboral Kutxa 68-89
Date: January 17, 2016
Not a big story in a game in Badalona where 10th ranked FIATC Joventut (6-10) was rolled over by third ranked Laboral Kutxa (13-3) 89-68 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-68. Laboral Kutxa forced 23 FIATC Joventut turnovers. FIATC Joventut was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Georgian forward Tornike Shengelia (205-91) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Darius Adams (188-89, college: Indianapolis, agency: Three Eye Sports) who added 18 points during the contest. Four Laboral Kutxa players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international swingman Sergi Vidal (198-81) responded with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Brandon Paul (193-91, college: Illinois) scored 15 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Laboral Kutxa have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-3 record having just three points less than leader Valencia. Loser FIATC Joventut dropped to the eleventh place with ten games lost. Laboral Kutxa will face Andorra (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. FIATC Joventut will play against Gipuzkoa in San Sebastian and hope to win that game.
