Regular Season Round 16: Maccabi Haifa - Bnei Hertzeliyya 80-73

The most important game in the last round took place in Haifa between third ranked Bnei Hasharon (9-7) and fourth ranked Maccabi Haifa (10-6) on Monday night. Bnei Hasharon was defeated by Maccabi Haifa in a tough game on the road 73-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bnei Hasharon. Maccabi Haifa forced 19 Bnei Hasharon turnovers and outrebounded them 46-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. 29 personal fouls committed by Bnei Hasharon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and forward Reginald Buckner (206-91, college: Mississippi, agency: CGL Sports) who added 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Drew Crawford (196-90, college: Northwestern) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Stephen Dennis (198-87, college: Kutztown, agency: HMS) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa moved-up to third place. Bnei Hasharon at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Maccabi Rishon. Maccabi Haifa are looking forward to face league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bnei Hasharon will play against Ironi Nahariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
