Regular Season Round 14: Impuls BGUIR - BGEU-RCOR 94-69

Rather expected game in Minsk where 6th ranked BGEU-RCOR (3-10) was crushed by fourth ranked Impuls BGUIR (7-6) 94-69. It looked good early as BGEU-RCOR took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Impuls BGUIR had a 32-16 second period charge getting the lead and BGEU-RCOR was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-94. They outrebounded BGEU-RCOR 42-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. Impuls BGUIR players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Forward Yuriy Ignatev (198-91) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international guard Maksim Shustov (186-86) supported him with 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Even 24 points and 7 assists by the former international guard Siarhei Vabishchevich (192-88) did not help to save the game for BGEU-RCOR. Forward Yaraslau Kurapau (200-91) added 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Impuls BGUIR moved-up to third place, which they share with Tsmoki II. BGEU-RCOR at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with Prinemanye. Impuls BGUIR will play against bottom-ranked GOCOR-Sozh (#8) in Gomel in the next round where they are favorite. BGEU-RCOR will play at home against Tsmoki II and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
