Thirteenth-ranked Hapoel Kazrin (4-10) made lots of trouble for first ranked Hapoel Afula (12-2) on Tuesday. The visitors from Afula managed to secure only three-point victory 83-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Hapoel Afula looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican forward Gilberto Clavell (200-89, college: Sam Houston St., agency: Inception Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Gal Tesler (186-93) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. American power forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import center Demarco Cox (203-90, college: Georgia Tech) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Hapoel Afula and five Hapoel Kazrin players scored in double figures. Hapoel Afula have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-2 record, which they share with Galil Gilboa. Hapoel Kazrin at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with ten games lost. Hapoel Afula is looking forward to face Ironi Kiryat Ata (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hapoel Kazrin will play against Ironi Ashkelon (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
