Regular Season Round 17: Malbas - Sundsvall 60-85

The game in Malmo supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Sundsvall Dragons (14-7) played at the court of 8th ranked Malbas (7-13). Sundsvall Dragons smashed Malbas 85-60 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Sundsvall Dragons. Malbas managed to win third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Malbas to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Sundsvall Dragons shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Icelandic power forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Charles Barton (193-92, college: Oregon St.) accounted for 18 points and 8 assists. Sundsvall Dragons' coach Tommie Hansson felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Carl Engstrom (216-91, college: Alabama) came up with 12 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian-Canadian forward Aleksandar Danilovic (202-93) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Malbas in the defeat. Five Sundsvall Dragons and four Malbas players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Sundsvall Dragons. They maintain third place with 14-7 record having just one point less than leader Sodertalje. Malbas lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. Sundsvall Dragons will meet at home bottom-ranked Eco Orebro (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Malbas will play against LF Basket and hope to secure a win.
