Regular Season Round 5: Pinar del Rio - Capitalinas 60-74

The most shocking disappointment of round 5 was a home defeat of second-ranked Pinar (3-2) to third ranked Capitalinas (4-1) 74-60. It ended the two-game winning streak of Pinar. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Pinar 36-22 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Capitalinas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Swingman Yaiset Fragela (172-96) stepped up and scored 12 points for the winners and point guard Anilegna Colas (163-95) chipped in 12 points. International Anisleidys Galindo (179-89) responded with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Yusleidys Miranda (173-96) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitalinas keep a position of league leader, which they share with Guantanamo. Defending champion Pinar dropped to the third place with two games lost.
