Regular Season Round 31: Shanghai S. - Guangsha L. 99-98

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (23-8) against tenth ranked Shanghai Sharks (15-16) on Wednesday night. Visiting Zhejiang Guangsha Lions were edged by Shanghai Sharks in a tough game in Shanghai 98-99. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 24-21 charge of Shanghai Sharks, which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard A.J. Price (188-86, college: Connecticut) who led the winners and scored 37 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import power forward Bernard James (208-85, college: Florida St.) accounted for 15 points and 18 rebounds for the winning side. Shanghai Sharks' coach Peng Liu used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Elijah Holman (208-89, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and Taiwanese guard Chih-Chieh Lin (192-82) added 17 points and 6 assists respectively for Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in the defeat. Four Shanghai Sharks and five Zhejiang Guangsha Lions players scored in double figures. Shanghai Sharks maintains tenth place with 15-16 record. Loser Zhejiang Guangsha Lions dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Shandong FB. Shanghai Sharks will meet higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will play against the league's second-placed Liaoning Hunters having rather not much hope for a victory.
