Regular Season Round 15: Al Gharafa - Al Rayyan 69-70

The most shocking disappointment of round 15 was only one-point a home defeat of second-best Al Gharafa (11-2) to third ranked Al Rayyan (12-1) 70-69. It ended the nine-game winning streak of Al Gharafa. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 36-28 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Al Rayyan forced 19 Al Gharafa turnovers. It was a great evening for American point guard Dominic James (180-86, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. The former international power forward Yasseen Ismail Musa (203-80) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern) with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists and Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Al Rayyan have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Sadd. Al Gharafa at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. Al Rayyan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Ahli.
