No shocking result in a game in Ciudad Victoria where eighth ranked Correcaminos (10-16) defeated 10th ranked Ciudad (7-21) 126-113 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Correcaminos. Ciudad managed to win second period 29-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Correcaminos shot 32 for 43 from the free-throw line, while Ciudad only scored sixteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Ciudad 48-34 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Correcaminos shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. It was a great evening for American swingman Brandon Davis (198-88, college: Lamar, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). His fellow American import guard Harrison Smith (190-87, college: Texas Southern, agency: Inception Sports) helped adding 21 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side American guard John Taylor (185-89, college: Fresno Pacific) responded with 24 points and the former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Correcaminos maintains eighth place with 10-16 record. Newly promoted Ciudad keeps the tenth position with 21 games lost. Correcaminos will again meet at home Ciudad (#10) in the next round. Ciudad will have a break next round.
