Regular Season Round 31: Qingdao E. - Sichuan BW 114-109

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Sichuan BW (24-7) against thirteenth ranked Qingdao Eagles (14-17) on Wednesday night. Visiting Sichuan BW was defeated by Qingdao Eagles in a tough game in Qingdao 109-114. The hosts were already 16 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 29-18 Sichuan BW's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 114-109 at the end of the game. Qingdao Eagles made 26-of-30 charity shots (86.7 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Sichuan BW was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 48 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) helped adding 23 points and 16 rebounds. Qingdao Eagles' coach XiaoBin Gong allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side Mike Harris (198-83, college: Rice) responded with a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Justin Dentmon (183-85, college: Washington) scored 26 points and 5 assists. Qingdao Eagles have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Jiangsu D. and Shanxi Zh. Sichuan BW at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Liaoning H.. Qingdao Eagles will play against Bayi Rockets (#18) in Ningbo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sichuan BW will play at home against Shandong Bulls (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
