Regular Season Round 16: Wildcats - Hawks 95-72

An interesting game for Perth Wildcats (15-8) which hosted in Perth one of their biggest challengers Illawarra Hawks (14-9). Second ranked Perth Wildcats had an easy win 95-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Illawarra Hawks. Perth Wildcats made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game, while Illawarra Hawks only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Illawarra Hawks 39-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American forward Casey Prather (196-91, college: Florida) who scored that evening 20 points and 6 rebounds and the former international power forward Nathan Jawai (209-86, college: Midland CC) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Perth Wildcats' coach Trevor Gleeson felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 17 points and 6 rebounds by the former international forward Oscar Forman (205-82) did not help to save the game for Illawarra Hawks. American-Italian guard Kevin Lisch (188-86, college: St.Louis) added 14 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Perth Wildcats maintains second position with 15-8 record behind leader United. Loser Illawarra Hawks keep the third place with nine games lost. Perth Wildcats will meet at home league's leader United in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Illawarra Hawks will play against Adelaide 36ers in Findon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
