Regular Season Round 21: Arak - Naft Abadan 70-77

The game between Top Four teams took place in Arak. 3rd placed host Arak (14-6) lost to second ranked Naft Abadan (16-5) 77-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Arak. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Naft Abadan forced 19 Arak turnovers. International Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Aren Davoudi (185-86) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was Croatian power forward Zvonko Buljan (206-87, college: TCU) with 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and international center Asghar Kardoust (212-86) scored 9 points and 11 rebounds. Arak's coach Mohammad Kasaeipour rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Naft Abadan have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 16-5 record behind leader Petrochimi. Newly promoted Arak keeps the third position with six games lost. Naft Abadan are looking forward to face league's leader Petrochimi in Bandar Imam in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arak will play at home against Shahrdari Gorgan and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
