Regular Season Round 15: Maccabi Ashdod - H.R. Le-Zion 90-79

Very expected game when 6th ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (4-11) lost on the road to second ranked Maccabi Ashdod (11-4) 90-79 on Thursday. Maccabi Ashdod dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion's 38. They outrebounded Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion 39-28 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Maccabi Ashdod looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. It was a good game for international forward Alysha Clark (178-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Theresa Plaisance (196-92, college: LSU, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Adan Inbar used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and international forward Ekaterina Abramzon (185-87) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion. Four Maccabi Ashdod and five Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Maccabi Ashdod. Defending champion maintains second place with 11-4 record having just three points less than leader Maccabi R.Hen, which they share with Ramat Hasharon and Bnot Hertzeliya. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion at the other side keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod is looking forward to face Elitzur Holon (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against Ramat Hasharon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
