Regular Season Round 14: Bendigo - Sydney 81-66

The most important game in the last round took place in Bendigo between second ranked Sydney Uni Flames (12-7) and fifth ranked Bendigo Spirit (12-7) on Friday night. Sydney Uni Flames were defeated by Bendigo Spirit on the road 81-66. The game without a history. Bendigo Spirit led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Bendigo Spirit outrebounded Sydney Uni Flames 46-27 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds. The former international center Gabrielle Richards (191-84, college: Oregon) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. International guard Katie-Rae Ebzery (177-90) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and forward Carly Boag (188-95, college: Minot St.) added 6 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Bendigo Spirit have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Dandenong and Sydney. Bendigo Spirit is looking forward to face Dandenong Rangers (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sydney Uni Flames will play against SEQ in Crestmead and are hoping to win this game.
