Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Brasilia (11-5) defeated at home 6th ranked Mogi (9-6) 91-79 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Brasilia. Mogi was better in third quarter 28-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for international Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). International point guard Deryk Ramos (185-94) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) replied with 16 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Mogi. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Brasilia have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Paulistano. Loser Mogi keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Brasilia will face Vivo/Franca (#8) in Sao Paulo in the next round where they are favorite. Mogi will play on the road against Pinheiros in Sao Paolo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
