The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Capitalinos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Capitalinos defeated 5th ranked Los Toros in La Habana 66-54. They outrebounded Los Toros 37-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. International center Orestes Torres (203-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and international forward Karel Guzman (188-95) chipped in 16 points and 5 steals. Capitalinos' coach Rainel Panfet used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) responded with 27 points and forward Legismel Borlot (195-87) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Villa Clara. Los Toros at the other side dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Ciego de Avila. Los Toros will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Capitalinos will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Los Toros in Artemisa.
