Regular Season Round 15: Azuqueca - Quintanar 59-86

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Azuqueca (7-5) was outplayed at home by first ranked Quintanar (10-2) 86-59 on Saturday. Quintanar dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Azuqueca's 30. Quintanar forced 19 Azuqueca turnovers and had a 39-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Cuban point guard Taylor Garcia (182-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Uruguayan-German point guard Phillip Holm (175-80) helped adding 20 points and 7 assists. Four Quintanar players scored in double figures. Quintanar's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Carlos Garcia (200-89) with 17 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Faronte Drakeford (201, college: Cent.Conn.St.) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Quintanar maintains first place in Group B with 10-2 record. Loser Azuqueca dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Quintanar will face Gran Canaria (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Azuqueca will play against La Roda (#14) and hope to win that game.
