Regular Season Round 15: Burgos - Ardoi 88-91

Ninth-ranked Burgos (3-7) gave a tough game to second ranked Ardoi (9-2) on Saturday. The visitors from Zizur Mayor managed to secure only three-point victory 91-88. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Burgos won second period 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ardoi shot 24 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Burgos only scored eight points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was point guard Alexander Calvo (180-91) who scored 21 points. Naturalized Ukrainian forward Anton Savitski (196-86) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Ardoi's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was center Txomin Lopez (204-78) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and forward Alvaro Gomez (192-84) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Burgos players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ardoi. They maintain second place in Group A-A with 9-2 record having ten points less than leader L'Hospitalet, which they share with Santurtzi. Loser Burgos keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. Ardoi will meet at home Venta de Banos (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Burgos will play against Clavijo in Logrono and hope to secure a win.
