Regular Season Round 16: Pordenone - Costa Masnaga 56-65

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Costa Masnaga (7-9) won against on the road 7th ranked Pordenone (8-8) 65-56 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-7. But Pordenone won third quarter 24-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Costa Masnaga dominated on the defensive end, holding Pordenone to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Pordenone 44-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for forward Masha Maiorano (180-82, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds. Slovenian guard Katarina Ristic (170-84, agency: Two Points) contributed with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Point guard Elisa Pinzan (171-99) replied with 15 points and Francesca Pan (180-97) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Pordenone. Pordenone's coach Andrea Da Prato rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Costa Masnaga moved-up to eighth place in A2. Pordenone at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Costa Masnaga will face league's leader Broni at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
