Regular Season Round 15: C.Adelantados - Araski AES 56-68

There was no surprise in San Cristobal where 7th ranked C.Adelantados (8-7) was defeated by third ranked Araski AES (11-4) 68-56 on Saturday. C.Adelantados was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 18-4 charge of Araski AES, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding C.Adelantados to just 4 points in fourth quarter. It was a great evening for Arrate Agirre (175-93) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. American-Nigerian swingman Kathleen Iwuoha (180-93, college: CS Fullerton) helped adding 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Araski AES's coach used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was forward Alba Pena (177-95, agency: Josep and Nicolas) with 16 points and 6 rebounds and center Lucia Mendez (182-88) scored 17 points. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Araski AES. They maintain third place in Group A with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Alcobendas, which they share with Adareva. C.Adelantados lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Araski AES will face Cortegada (#9) in Vilagarcia Arousa in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. C.Adelantados will play on the road against Oviedo and hope to win that game.
