Regular Season Round 15: Venta de Banos - Cantbasket 75-87

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Cantbasket (5-5) beat on the road 10th ranked Venta de Banos (3-8) 87-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cantbasket. Venta de Banos was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Tomas Ramon (203-84) helped adding 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Cantbasket players scored in double figures. Cantbasket's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Miguel Caballero (182-92) with 20 points and 4 assists and American forward Hunter Merryman (198-93, college: Middlebury, agency: Dynamics Global Management) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. Cantbasket moved-up to sixth place in Group A-A. Loser Venta de Banos keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Cantbasket will face TAKE Tolosa (#8) at home in the next round. Venta de Banos will play against the league's second-placed Ardoi in Zizur Mayor and hope to win that game.
