Regular Season Round 15: Coin - Cordoba 87-82

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Coin and 4th placed Cordoba had identical 7-3 record. This time Coin used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Cordoba 87-82 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cordoba won fourth quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Coin shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for center Juan Vasco (200-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Juan Mendez (181-85) helped adding 23 points. Coin's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was point guard Jose Medina (185-93) with 25 points and 5 assists and American Matt Devine (201-91, college: Westfield St.) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Coin (8-3) moved-up to second place in Group D-East. Loser Cordoba dropped to the third position with four games lost. Coin will face Velez (#5) in Velez-Malaga in the next round. Cordoba will play at home against the league's leader Medacbasket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
