Regular Season Round 16: Olesnica - Gornik Walbrzych 73-71

The most exciting game of round 16 in the 2Liga took place in Olesnica. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Gornik (13-3) to tenth ranked Olesnica (5-11) 73-71 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gornik. Olesnica forced 19 Gornik turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Grzegorz Kaczmarek (193-83) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Kacper Kuta (191-94) who added 17 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Olesnica players scored in double figures. At the losing side Rafal Niesobski (189-82) responded with 23 points and point guard Pawel Piros (185-88, agency: Promotex) scored 23 points. Gornik's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Olesnica moved-up to ninth place in Group D, which they share with Otmuchow. Gornik at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Olesnica is looking forward to face higher ranked WKK Wroclaw (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gornik will play against Gniezno (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
