Regular Season Round 15: Plasencia - San Juan 90-93

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Plasencia (10-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked San Juan (8-3) 93-90. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Plasencia. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group D-West. 24 personal fouls committed by Plasencia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for forward Gonzalo Avila (198-79) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. Guard Antonio Gomez (193-79) helped adding 11 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four San Juan players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Caleb Hardy (196-91, college: Bethel, TN) with 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and forward Mario Alvarez (196-91) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. San Juan have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in Group D-West, which they share with Linense. Plasencia at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. San Juan is looking forward to face league's second-placed Linense in La Linea in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Plasencia will play at home against Sevilla II and is hoping to win this game.
