Regular Season Round 18: Quimper - Rueil 83-68

The most important game in the last round took place in Quimper between second ranked Rueil (13-5) and sixteenth ranked Quimper UJAP (7-11) on Saturday night. Rueil was defeated by Quimper UJAP on the road 68-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Rueil. The game was mostly controlled by Quimper UJAP. Rueil managed to win fourth quarter 28-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Quimper UJAP forced 19 Rueil turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Quimper UJAP especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Mathieu Tensorer (198-83) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Quimper UJAP players scored in double figures. Quimper UJAP's coach Hugues Occansey used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian forward Dejan Sencanski (198-84, college: Abil.Christian) replied with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Lamine Sambe (188-89) added 17 points in the effort for Rueil. Quimper UJAP moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Bordeaux and Chartres. Rueil at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Quimper UJAP is looking forward to face higher ranked Vendee Challans (#13) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rueil will play against Lourdes-Tarbes (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
