There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Empoli (10-8) outplayed at home higher ranked Scafati Cesarano (11-7) 81-57 on Saturday. They outrebounded Scafati Cesarano 49-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for Gianni Terrosi (191-89) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 7 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Power forward Michele Bei (200-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Croatian forward Marko Mlinar (200-83) replied with 5 points and 18 rebounds and guard Marco Cucco (188-94, agency: Players Group) added 13 points in the effort for Scafati Cesarano. Empoli moved-up to seventh place in B, which they share with Vicenza and Desio. Newly promoted Scafati Cesarano dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Empoli will face Fondi (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
