Regular Season Round 13: Eanna - DCU Saints 74-89

There was no surprise in Dublin where 10th ranked Eanna (2-11) was defeated by eighth ranked DCU Saints (4-9) 89-74 on Saturday. DCU Saints outrebounded Eanna 63-33 including a 25-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Duane Johnson (201-91, college: E.Stroudsburg) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners and Latvian forward Arkadijs Makarenko (185) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four DCU Saints players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Conor Gallagher (208-84) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Luke Thompson (190-94) scored 16 points. Eanna's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. DCU Saints maintains eighth place with 4-9 record. Eanna lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. DCU Saints will meet league's second-placed UCC Demons in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eanna will play against UCD Marian (#4) in Dublin and hope to secure a win.
